Welcome to Poppy’s Handcrafted Gifts. I’m Chris a textile artist who lives on the east coast of the U.K.
I’ve crafted all my life, but with a family and a very busy working life, my makes were limited to gifts for family and friends, special requests, and Craft Fairs. I’m now in a position in my life where I can do what I love, crafting handmade Collectable Artist Bears & Toys, that also make great gifts. I live 100 metres from the Sea, and although I never go in, I love walking along the seafront getting in my 10,000 steps thinking up new designs and ideas.
People often ask why Poppy’s when my name is Chris? – many years ago someone from the Far East thought my surname was my first name, mispronounced it, and called me Poppy. The nickname stuck until the day I retired. So when thinking of a name for my craft business, Poppy’s was the obvious choice.
Everything in the shop is handcrafted by me, so I hope you enjoy browsing my Artist Bears as much as I do making them.
Mohair is the luxury end of the range. I use high quality fabrics of varying pile lengths in beautiful shades and colours. Each Bear has its own unique character that’s waiting to be adopted and looking for its forever home. All bears have traditional cotter joints and UK glass eyes, and are weighted.
Handcrafted in a variety of fabrics, from huggable soft Boucle, Tapestry, Velvet and 100% Wool Felt. These Bears are traditionally made with cotter joints and UK glass eyes. As with all my Bears they are not toys and are intended for display and not suitable for under 14yrs.
Handcrafted from Harris Tweed and 100% UK Wool Tweed, these Bears are traditionally made using cotter joints and UK glass eyes. Each Bear is unique and no two bears are identical.
They are Collectors Bears for age 14+
Handcrafted collectable dressed Artist Bears and Toys, that have been lovingly made. No two are ever the same, so they truly are a unique addition to your collection, and make an heirloom piece to pass down the generations.
These are not toys, and are intended for display, and only suitable for ages 14+.
