Welcome to Poppy’s Handcrafted Gifts, featuring Poppy’s Bears.
I’m Chris a textile artist who lives on the east coast of the U.K.
My Bears are handmade from Mohair, Boucle fabric, Felt and Harris Tweed. They’re all traditionally made using cotter pin joins, U.K. glass eyes and have lightly weighted bottoms. Each has its own personality and no two bears are ever the same, making them a unique addition to your collection, or as a gift.
A love of fabric and colours is at the core of the Decorative Cushions that I make. Each fabric carefully chosen for design and texture.
I live 100 metres from the Sea, and although I never go in, I love walking along the seafront getting in my 10,000 steps thinking up new designs and ideas.
People often ask why Poppy’s when my name is Chris? – many years ago someone from the Far East thought my surname was my first name, mispronounced it, and called me Poppy. The nickname stuck until the day I retired. So when thinking of a name for my craft business, Poppy’s was the obvious choice.
Everything in the shop is handcrafted by me, so I hope you enjoy browsing my Artist Bears as much as I do making them.
This range of Collectable Artist Bears are made from Mohair, Boucle fabric, Tweed, Velvet and Faux Fur. Each Bear has its own unique character that’s waiting to be adopted and looking for its forever home. All bears have traditional cotter joints and UK glass eyes, and are weighted.
THESE ARE NOT TOYS, and are suitable only for ages 14+ to adult.
Scatter Cushions / Throw Pillows handmade in various fabrics, with overlocked seams, extra stuffed inner pads, and zip fastening. The range includes: 100% Wool Tweed, Embroidered, Appliqué, Tapestry & Decorative Feature designs.
Trinket / Keepsake / Jewellery / Tea and Memory Boxes, that come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and are decorated with a combination of Decoupage, Laser engraving, and painted techniques. A pretty storage solution, or gift either on their own or with a gift included.
Handcrafted wall & door hangings made from various fabrics, with either embroidered or appliqué designs. Many are framed in bamboo hoops that are a beautiful home decoration for any room. These also make great gifts for any occasion when matched to the persons likes and decor.
